Update on Mission: Centro!

Konbanwa minna-san! Genki desu ka?

Minna-san might be wondering how things are going concerning MK’s “Mission:Centro“. This was a “mission” that MK started when she needed a cell phone. She decided that since times are hard for her parents lately, she would work to earn the phone that she wants herself, for a change. So now, MK is going to update minna-san on the status of her mission.

MKs new cell phone! ^.^

MK's new cell phone! ^.^

OK, so the last time MK posted about this mission, she was still working to earn the money needed to buy the phone. But MK is happy to tell minna-san that she has bought a red Palm Centro!

Unfortunately, since I bought it online, I still have to wait a little less than a week before it arrives. But I’m already SO excited! Within the next week I should recieve a call from the Post Office telling me that my package has arrived! \[^o^]/~*

On Friday, I got a letter with all kinds of cool formal stuff [*v*]{Ooooh!). And then I had to go to the Post Office to sign some paper concerning the package. All of this is causing MK to become even more anxious about this package arriving!

OK, so as soon as MK recieves her package, she will either film the unboxing or take many pictures to show minna-san!

Until then, God bless minna-san!

Only a little while longer…

*Searching Ebay*

*Searching Ebay*

Hora minna-san!~♥

MK here. At the moment I’m searching for good deals on the Palm Centro online. I need to find a good deal by the end of this week. That’s why I’m starting to pick up spead with this. I’m also getting really excited (>^ω^<)♥ *purrrr*

*searches for about half an hour*

Wow, this is harder than I thought! I mean, I don’t mind the color so much, as long as it’s not black, but… it’s hard to make the decision. I don’t shop online often, and definitely not on my own like this, so I really don’t have any experience.

Well, MK will leave for now. I’ve got a pretty busy day ahead of me. I really hope I can blog again later today, but I doubt I’ll have the time to… [-__-]

New Keitai or Used Keitai? [.__.]

Hora minna-san! Genki desu ka? (How are you doing?) It is MK who is currently enjoying a very late, but yummy lunch.

Unfortunately, thanks to my wonderfully awesome job [‾x‾]|||, when I get home from school I have very little time before I have to rush off to work. (MK-chan –> ~[[[\[‘x’]/) That’s why I’m trying to make good use of every single free moment of my time.

Oh! If minna-san is wondering what exactly those two red parentheses at the beginning of the post mean, I’m going to tell you. I believe I’ve used them once before but now I’m going to officially state the purpose of these parentheses ().

When you see those, it means that the word/phase between them is the meaning of the word/phrase that came before.

Yup… (Minna-san= (.__.){That’s it?)   MK= [-__-] *nods*)

Anyway… hmmm, what should I speak of today? …

Oh! Quick notice to any Teen-Fortress.com users/members: I know that I haven’t responded to comments on the forums yet and I apologize, I plan to respond today.

Anyway, so, just now, I was just surfing around looking for something interesting to read and I came across this article:

It initially caught my attention because it’s about buying cellphones and as a couple of you might know (if you’ve read my previous posts), I’m currently saving to buy my “dream keitai” (dream cellphone). I plan to buy it at Ebay.com, so I have the option of buying a used one. Until now I was pretty sure I’d just buy a brand new one, but right now, I’m considering buying used.

Old used phones (wow, I didnt know some of these existed anymore 0.0)

Old used phones (wow, I didn't know some of these existed anymore 0.0)

Hmmm… OK, first let’s look at the pros:

  • As is obvious, one of the main pros of buying used, is the lower price. Just one or two little scratches on the phone can sometimes mean a whole $50 less! And like the phone in the article, used phones can be a whole $100 less if you look hard enough.
  • As is stressed in the article, by buying used, one is helping to keep the environment clean. And I think that’s always a good thing.

But of course there are also some cons to buying used:

  • One thing that I would really, really miss if I were to buy used is the unpacking of the phone. This is something that’s very simple, but really does make a difference to MK. She loves the smell of the plastic and the cardboard as the box is opened. She loves to see the shiny, new item, fresh out of the plastic/Styrofoam wrapping. For me, it’s a very rear (since MK doesn’t get to buy electronics very often – although she wish she could [-__-]) and special moment. And I think this particular time, since I actually worked really hard for this phone, the unwrapping/-packing would be especially rewarding. I’m actually planning to record the unwrapping/-packing on video and maybe even show minna-san. So, yes, the unwrapping/-packing is a really big deal for MK.
  • Sometimes the item ends up being broken in some way or missing certain components. It’s normally easier to trust a big company like Palm than an amateur online salesman. (though on Ebay, even amateurs can sell new products)

Yep, so those are a couple of the pros and cons. But MK must leave minna-san right about now. I’m gonna go have QTime now.

Oh, for those who might be wondering:

My “dream keitai” would be (well it’s not exactly my dream phone, there are some things that could be improved about it): The Palm Centro!

The Centro from Palm*

The Centro from Palm*

To read more about MK’s desperate struggle towards the first phone that will truly belong to her (so far she’s only had hand-me-downs), search “keitai”.

MK’s getting very excited by now. Only a couple more weeks! [^.^]!

Ok, enough Keitai Craziness!!!

Ohayou minna-san! It is quite early in the morning for MK to be blogging, ne? Well, I start school a little later than usual today. So I have a few minutes to spare. That’s why this post is gonna be pretty short. [-_-]

MK has (as you can see by the amount of posts about MK’s *dream keitai*) been thinking a whole lot about her dream phone lately. I’m very very anxious about finally having it! But the thing is: I’m probably not getting it until more than two months from now! It really stinks having to wait all this time while saving up for a phone you’re so eager about.

But MK has realized something. When one is looking forward to something and thinks about it ALL THE TIME, it seems to take longer than if you just carry on as usual and not count the seconds! And this is what MK has been doing [u_u].

For this reason, I’m going to try my best to postpone my thoughts and worries and dreams about my dream phone until at least a month from when I plan to buy it. I must try to forget that I’m getting anything special for my birthday ([O.O] How am I gonna do that!?) so that time will fly as usual and before I know it, my birthday (and my dream phone) will be right around the corner! [^.^]

*Sachi-chan rushes to school*

*rushes to school*

So MK will give minna-san a break from all the talk and commotion about this phone.[-_-]

Minna-san –> \[*v*]/{HALLELUIAH!)♪♫

*Hehehe* Well, MK must now rush to school!

Buh Bye!

Even more Keitai Craziness!!!

Ohayou minna-san! This is MK who is not sure exactly what to blog about today. Hmmm *thinks*

Well, as minna-san might know by now, one thing that is constantly lingering in MK’s mind is: “Palm Centro!!!”. *nervous laugh* Yes, yes, I know. Minna-san is extremely sick of MK’s endless blabberings about this phone. [-_-]

But LOOK! MK was just googling “Centro” (as is now a routine activity for her *blush*) when she stumbled upon an interesting blog post:

Report from bizarro world: Centro, i760 best designed phones

Although “innovative” isn’t exactly the word we chose to use when summing up Palm’s Centro, apparently the public at large sees things a little differently — or, so says this report, anyway. According to a buyer behavior writeup from Strategy Analytics, the Centro “attracted the most attention from nearly half of the tested US consumers who are intending to purchase a new mobile device” in Q4, and it even ranked ahead of the second-place Samsung i760 in the “appealing” department. Both of the aforementioned handsets were hailed as the top choices (saywha?) for folks “seeking a multifunction, fully integrated device,” while the Nokia Prism and LG Rumor also got a few props along the way. Of course, it’s always best to take these “studies” with a healthy serving of salt, but if you wanted something to debate about, you’ve found it.

↑From Engadget.com↑

OK, it’s obvious that the writer of this post isn’t as big a fan of the Centro as MK is [u_u], but according to the study or analysis or whatever, many others agree with MK [^_^]. Hmmm, but honestly, does minna-san find the Centro a nice phone? Judging by this blogger’s tone, there are also others who probably dislike MK’s dream phone [;_;].

But anyway, I don’t mind so much if others don’t like my phone [-_-]. I think I’d mind more if I don’t like my phone, ne?

Moving on…

At the moment, there’s no specific color that I want, and I hope it stays this way, because I don’t wanna be totally bummed if I can’t get a specific color. I learned that you can’t get the pearl pink Centro unless you’re with Sprint. [-_-] Bummer. Plus there are some these two other colors that I love! But they’re from Sprint [;_;].

Off-limit colors to Sachi-chan [T.T]

Off-limit colors to MK *cries*

Why do all the cool colors have to be off-limits. *drat!*

There are some basic colors that you can get directly from Palm Factory unlocked. They’re all pretty plain, especially that navy blue one *gag*. The red one isn’t so bad though. That one’s a little less boring. ↓

But thankfully, it seems some carriers like AT&T sell their phones unlocked too. I saw a really cool electric blue Centro on Ebay and… IT WAS UNLOCKED! \[^v^]/{yokatta!)

Its pretty!

It's pretty!

So, here are the colors I want lined up by how much I like them (1= LOVE IT! /5= Whatever *shrugs*)

  1. Electric blue!!! (of course!)
  2. Red
  3. Black (I would decorate this one)
  4. White
  5. Navy Blue (*sigh*)

Maybe, somehow, Sprint will also start to sell their phones unlocked too! [*v*]

Alright, enough blabber for today! What does minna-san think? Which color do you like best?

Oh! Just a random question for anyone who might know (per chance): If you look at the left side of the keyboard, under the letter “A” there’s a blank key. What is that key? Thanks to anyone who will help MK.

The Keitai Craziness Continues!

Bonjour minna-san! It is MK who has been dreaming of her lovely dream cell phone [*.*]. How is minna-san doing? Have you all been having a nice weekend resting and relaxing?

MK’s weekend has been nice so far. Nami-chan came over to my place yesterday, we had a really nice time hanging out in the afternoon. Then in the night we played WiiMusic for a bit, but were interupted by MK’s beloved \[♥v♥]/! But, SHHHH! MK is only a secret admirer of her beloved [;_;].

Dream phone~!

Dream phone~!

Anyway, I must not put my focus on sad things at this moment. [-__-]

MK is SO anxious about her plan to have her Palm Centro in her hands within a few month (wish I didn’t have to wait so long).

What’s my plan, you say?

MK’s Plan to get her dream phone within months:

OK, I can’t get this phone on my island so I’ve been browsing around for it on Ebay.com. And I was pretty dismayed to see that it costs about an average of $300 \[O□O]/!!! And the thing that’s just so uncool is that if I lived in the States and had a subscription with a carrier (like T Mobile or AT&T) I could get it for under $50! *cries*

Anyway, that’s just the way things are. So my plan is, since I now have a job, and my birthday is coming up in a couple months, I’m going to save and save until it’s almost my birthday, and then I’ll give my parents the money that I saved and they’ll pay the rest for the phone. [^_^] … Or so I hope. [-_-]

But anyway, so that’s basically my plan. I have about 40 work hours until my birthday, so I’ll have to do whatever extra jobs and tasks on the side to earn more. Every dime counts! *determined* I’m really feeling hopeful and praying everyday that God will help me to get the perfect phone!

So MK will begin work tomorrow and will report to minna-san regularly on how things are working out with MK’s plan!

Keitai Crazy!

Konnichiwa minna-san! The last couple of days, MK has been thinking and dreaming a lot about getting the perfect cell phone! [*v*]

I’ve never really been the that person who has her cell phone with her at all times and gets a call or a message ever ten minutes. That’s probably because of a couple of different reasons:

  • MK has few friends who would call her. [-_-]
  • She’s hardly ever not at home, so it doesn’t make much sense for her to have a mobile phone when MK is so immobile and anyone can just reach her on her house’s phone.
  • When she finally does go out she normally just forgets her phone at home.

These and more are reasons why MK should not get a cell phone [;_;].

Now, I have more reason to get a cell phone because…:

  • Yoshi-kun and Nami-chan both have cell phones that they use very actively. So now I have people to call and be called by. [^_^]
  • This year I have some new activities outside of the house (such as a new part-time job [n_n]), so in order for others to contact me, I need a cell phone, ne? *wink*
  • I’ve gotten into a good habit of always making sure to have certain things when I leave the house. Things like, my PSP, headphones, my palm pilot and anything else I need to go to that specific place. So, this means I should be able to remember not to leave my phone at home all the time. Also, I wanna get a really nice cell phone that I love, so that I’ll want to have it with me all the time.

Yes, so for those reasons, MK is in need of a mobile telephone…

What kind of a cell phone has MK been dreaming about?

Well, I have some ideal features that would be perfect in my phone. I know to get all of these features in one phone could be pretty expensive, but that’s just what I would get if money wasn’t an issue. But unfortunately, it is.[u_u]

Anyway, the ideal phone for me would have to:

My organizer - Tungsten E

My organizer - Tungsten E

  • Have a good camera, the more megapixels the better.
  • Have a keyboard/keypad. I really don’t like entering text with the normal number buttons on a cell. It takes forever!
  • Have a good calendar and to-do list.
  • Look somewhat japanese keitai-ish. ^^
  • And a bonus would be that it has a MP3 player and can use regular headphones/earphones.

So, those are features you’ll probably only find together in a smartphone or of course an iPhone. And since an iPhone is probably out of the picture for poor MK-chan,  why not check out smartphones? It doesn’t hurt to dream, right? [^.^]

OK, so when I think of a suitable phone with all of these features, I  immediately think of Palm phones.

You see, my organizer is a Palm Tungsten E. It’s super old! I’ve probably had it for 6-7 years now, and it still hasn’t failed me. [*v*] That’s why I think a Palm smartphone would be a good way to go, ne?

So when I googled “Palm phone” on Google images, one that caught my eye was the Palm Centro. I really don’t know anything about this phone yet, so I’ll definitely be looking into it. But for starters, it looks nice, doesn’t it?

Pink Palm Centro - Ooh! Its pretty!

Pink Palm Centro - Ooh! It's pretty!

I think it’s pretty cute and I’m guessing it’s just like an organizer, a camera, and an MP3 player in one. Hmmm, maybe I should stop guessing and search for some solid info.

Anyway, MK must come back out of dream land now, and get begin doing homework.[;_;] I’ll look up some more info about some more possible phone choices and let minna-san know later, OK?
